GICA is hosting an in-person training created exclusively for Compliance Collaborative members. If you are unsure whether you represent a Compliance Collaborative member school, please contact Judy Spain. If there are other folks on your campus that would be interested in attending this in-person training, please forward this information on to them.

Title IX Hearing Panel Members need to understand their obligations under Title IX, Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA), SaVE Act, and Clery Act. And, your institution is legally required to provide employees involved with or responsible for the Title IX process with specialized training on an annual basis.

Join your colleagues for an in-depth training designed to provide Hearing Panel Members (and Title IX Coordinators, Deputy Coordinators, and Investigators) with an up-to-date understanding of current compliance requirements and best practices for conducting a hearing.

Topics to be covered:

  • Embedding Prevention Programs into Policy and Culture
  • Overview
    • Title IX
    • VAWA
    • SaVe Act
  • Case Scenario
  • We will be using one case to walk us through your institution’s processes that occur prior to the hearing.
  • The case will end in a mock hearing panel.
  • Attendees MUST bring a copy of their institution’s Title IX policy since attendees will be walking through how their process actually works while discussing their processes with other attendees.

NOTE:

  • These are the only in-person training for 2019-2020 for Title IX Hearing Panel members.
  • Attendees can sign up for any location.
  • This training will briefly cover some topics discussed at the Title IX Basic Investigator Training. However, Title IX Coordinators are strongly encouraged to attend in order to hear what training is being provided to their Title IX Hearing Panel members.
  • This training is also appropriate for Title IX Investigators.
