GICA is hosting an in-person training created exclusively for Compliance Collaborative members. If you are unsure whether you represent a Compliance Collaborative member school, please contact Judy Spain. If there are other folks on your campus that would be interested in attending this webinar, please forward this information on to them.

Title VII prohibits discrimination based on race, sex, religion, color, and national origin. Sometimes when a situation occurs on your campus, it is not immediately clear if the conduct is a possible Title IX violation or a Title VII issue. And, with increasing frequency, it is Title IX Coordinators, Deputy Coordinators, and Investigators who are being asked to investigate these claims.

While the underlying principles of any investigation are the same, there are major differences between the scope and starting point of a Title IX investigation compared to a Title VII investigation. Join your colleagues for an in-depth training designed to identify the differences between these two types of investigations.

This training will help attendees not only understand the legal requirements but also will help even the most experienced investigators navigate the complex issues that arise in Title VII matters.

Topics to be covered:

  • Overview of Title VII
  • Distinctions between Title IX and Title VII investigations
    • Attendees MUST bring a copy of their institution’s Title IX policy as well as their Non-Discrimination (Title VII) policy.

NOTE:

  • These 2 training sessions are scheduled on the same day as Fair Play: When Coaching? When Bullying AND Title IX – Hearing Panel Member Training
  • Consider sending all your Title IX Hearing Panel members to the same training.
  • Consider Title IX Coordinators and Investigators also attending the Title IX Hearing Panel training as well as this training.
