GICA is hosting a webinar created exclusively for Compliance Collaborative members. If you are unsure whether you represent a Compliance Collaborative member school, please contact Judy Spain.  If there are other folks on your campus that would be interested in attending this webinar training, please forward this information on to them.

The role of a Title IX Decision-maker in a Live Hearing has changed.  And, the new Title IX regulations make it very clear that decision-makers have to be trained about specific topics.  This training will focus on the following subjects:

  • General process for handling a hearing
  • Required attendance by an institution-provider Advisor
  • Cross-examination
    • Process
    • “Waiving” questions
  • Ruling by decision-maker
  • Relevant questions
  • Not relevant questions
    • Rape shield, legally recognized privilege, hearsay, medical records
  • Institutional decisions as to weight of evidence
  • Credibility determination and factors

It is expected that attendees would have attended the GICA Compliance Collaborative Title IX Hearing Panel Member training (7 webinars scheduled in September, 2020).  This training will be more in-depth and will focus on the on-the-spot evidentiary rulings that a decision-maker will be issuing as well as providing valuable insights designed to  assist a decision-maker on issues of weight of evidence and credibility of the parties and witnesses.

This will be a recorded webinar.  After this webinar is finished, attendees will have the opportunity to log-back in through a provided link and ask questions of the speakers.  The Q&A session will not be recorded.

Registration Deadline:  Monday, September 28th at 4:00 p.m.  Registration and log-in information will be sent to registrants on Monday, September 28th after 4:00 p.m.
